This week, we're highlighting the Tennessee Fire Chiefs' Association, which has been advancing the fire service across Tennessee since its founding in 1969. National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) released their Fatal Firefighter Injuries in the United States annual report. A total of 83 firefighter fatalities were identified in 2025 from traumatic injuries, heart attacks, or other medical conditions — 45 of these deaths were volunteer firefighters. 45% of fatalities for firefighters was caused by overexertion or strain injuries, with the majority being caused by heart attacks.
