April 15, 2025
Did you know that April is National Stress Awareness Month? If there’s anyone who knows about stress it’s a first responder! Especially a volunteer responder who is juggling work, life, and the fire service. That’s why the NVFC has resources to help you understand and manage stress.
- Register for the April 24 NVFC Roundtable Talk, Balancing Act: Navigating Work, Life, and Volunteer Commitments, to gain insight into what it means to have work-life-volunteer balance, how to set your own boundaries, and how to approach your team’s work-life-volunteer balance as a leader.
- The NVFC First Responder Helpline, offered through Provident, provides assistance to NVFC members and their families for a variety of behavioral health issues and work-life stresses.
- The Directory of Behavioral Health Professionals is an online, searchable list of local providers who are equipped and ready to help firefighters, EMS providers, rescue workers, dispatchers, and their families.
- The Psychologically Healthy Fire Departments toolkit and training helps fire department leaders promote and foster well-being among their members and create successful, high-performing departments.
- The NVFC Virtual Classroom features courses and webinars that can help you better understand and manage stress as a first responder.
