Why are you an NVFC member?
I joined to gain good, reliable, and accurate information.

What is your occupation?
EMS instructor

Why are you a fire service volunteer?
It started as a family tradition and now continues with my daughter. After joining, I found that I enjoyed the family atmosphere and helping my community. By chance, I took a position as a high school EMT teacher. In this position, I recruited to and from the department.

What year did you join the fire or emergency service?
1968

What are your memorable moments as a firefighter or EMS provider?
Numerous incidents, including childbirth, and helping people in their time of need. I also responded to 9-11 and saw the importance of emergency services.

What contributions have you (and your department) made in your community?
I help teach the future of EMS/ fire services. The department has a junior program and is in contact with the local high school and county BOCES program. The department is an active member of the chamber of commerce. It provides fire and EMS services to Jones Beach year-round. In addition, WFD provides fire/EMS services during the Jones Beach Air Show, a three-day event that includes the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds. Attendance varies from 300,000 to 500,000 people over the three events.
