December 17, 2024
The Firefighter Cancer Registry Reauthorization Act (P.L. 118-147) was signed into law by President Biden on December 11. The bill reauthorizes the National Firefighter Registry for Cancer (NFR) through 2028 and increases its authorized funding from $2.5 million to $5.5 million per year. The NFR is a voluntary database maintained by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health to collect occupational information to better understand and reduce cancers among firefighters.
