NVFC Launches New Design for Make Me A Firefighter Recruitment Portal
August 11, 2026
Since 2015, the National Volunteer Fire Council’s (NVFC) Make Me A Firefighter Campaign has been helping volunteer and combination fire and EMS departments recruit new volunteers through a national volunteer opportunity database, customizable recruitment materials, training, outreach tools, and more. The department portal now has a new look and easier navigability to make accessing resources even easier.
The redesigned portal enables departments to more easily access training, resources, and outreach materials including items such as:
- Microlearning videos
- Social media toolkit
- Recruitment and retention research
- Guide for new firefighter families
- Volunteer value calculators
- Ready-to-use videos and PSAs
- Ready-to-use social media posts and flyers
In addition, you can login or create an account to access more tools including the following:
- Post or manage your department’s volunteer opportunities in the online database so prospective volunteers can find you on the public-facing website.
- Customize outreach materials with your department’s name, logo, and information.
- Track your recruits through the onboarding process.
The Make Me A Firefighter campaign is designed to help resource constrained departments successfully recruit and retain volunteers. Save time and money by utilizing campaign materials and resources instead of starting from scratch. All materials are offered at no cost to fire departments. Sign up for free to access the full benefits of the Make Me A Firefighter campaign.
