Application Period Opens August 3: Ricochet Out Front™ Technical Rescue Gear
July 28, 2026
Having the right PPE for the right response is critical to the safety and effectiveness of emergency responders. That is why Ricochet and the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) have partnered to provide the Ricochet PPE Award Program to help volunteer departments with limited resources obtain the gear they need. The first application period opens on August 3 and will provide five volunteer departments with five sets each of Ricochet Out Front™ Technical Rescue Gear.
When every pound matters and every movement counts, the right PPE can make a difference. Ricochet Out Front™ Technical Rescue Gear provides dual-certified protection (NFPA 1950 – 1951/1999) with reduced weight and unrestricted mobility, helping responders stay protected and perform confidently during extrication, EMS, and technical rescue operations.
To be eligible to apply, departments must provide emergency medical and/or rescue services, have at least one NVFC member (click here to join), be over 50 percent volunteer, serve a population of 25,000 or less, be located in the U.S. and legally organized under state law, and demonstrate a need for the gear.
The application period is open from August 3 until noon ET on August 31. Learn more and apply starting on August 3 at www.nvfc.org/ricochet.
This is the first of three application periods as part of the Ricochet PPE Award Program. The application period in September will be for Ricochet Wildland Gear, and the application period in October will be for Ricochet Wildland + Technical Rescue Dual-Cert Gear (NFPA 1950 – 1977/1951). Departments can apply for any or all gear packages based on their operational needs; applying for one does not make you ineligible to apply for another.
