Elisabeth Hornfeck Receives 2026 NVFC Scholarship from Waldorf University

The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) and Waldorf University are pleased to announce that Elisabeth Hornfeck of Greensboro, NC, a member of the Transylvania County Rescue Squad, has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 NVFC Scholarship from Waldorf University.

Hornfeck is pursuing a master of business administration (MBA) with a fire rescue executive leadership concentration, furthering her education to strengthen her leadership skills and better serve the volunteer fire service.

“My role as a volunteer firefighter and rescuer has instilled in me a lasting commitment to serving others with competence, integrity, and care,” said Hornfeck. “By continuing to pursue education and apply what I learn, I aim to not only grow as an individual, but also to contribute to a stronger, more effective department that better serves its community.”

The Waldorf University NVFC Scholarship is awarded to an NVFC member who demonstrates a passion for education, professional development, and community service. The scholarship provides up to 60 credit hours toward an eligible online degree program at Waldorf University, helping recipients advance their education while continuing to serve their communities.
