500 Laptops Distributed to Volunteer Fire Departments Nationwide Thanks to State Farm®

2025 State Farm Laptop Donation Recipients Davidson (OK) Fire Department

Access to reliable technology plays an important role in helping volunteer fire departments manage operations, support training, and serve their communities effectively. To help address this need, State Farm® donated 500 laptops to volunteer fire departments across the country in collaboration with the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC). One hundred departments received five previously owned laptops each – view recipient list.

“Many volunteer fire departments face challenges when it comes to accessing reliable technology,” said NVFC Chair Steve Hirsch. “This donation helps ensure departments have the tools they need to manage operations more effectively and better serve their communities.”

The laptops were previously owned but wiped clean prior to distribution. To be eligible, departments had to have at least one NVFC member, be located in the 48 contiguous U.S. states and legally organized under state law, and agree that the laptops would be used strictly for department purposes. One hundred departments were randomly selected from all eligible entries.

This is the second year that State Farm has donated laptops to volunteer fire departments. Departments that received laptops shared how the equipment will make an immediate impact on their operations and daily activities.

“Being a small rural volunteer department with limited funding, this donation means the world to us. It is going to provide easier access to training and reporting for our department personnel. Thank you again for all you do, it truly makes an impact,” said Christine Browning, secretary and volunteer EMT and firefighter with Klickitat (WA) Fire District 12.

“The best decision I made was becoming a member of the NVFC. You and your team have been a blessing to our fire department,” said Jabari Gamble, vice president of Coy (AL) Volunteer Fire Department.

“On behalf of the Ville Platte Volunteer Fire Department, thank you for your generous donation of five laptops. Your support means a great deal to us and will directly strengthen our training, reporting, and community outreach efforts. We truly appreciate your continued commitment to our department and to the safety of our community,” said Chris Soileau, fire chief of the Ville Platte (LA) Volunteer Fire Department.

State Farm and the NVFC also team up annually for the Good Neighbor Firefighter Safety Program, which has awarded $2.5 million to local fire departments since launching in 2024. In 2026, the program will once again provide $10,000 grants to 150 volunteer fire departments to help them purchase needed equipment, such as personal protective gear, technology, communication devices, rescue tools, and more.
