Name: Mike Chevalier
Title: Fire Chief
Department Name: Little Hocking Fire & Rescue
Location: Little Hocking, OH
What is your career?
I have full time employment as the emergency response coordinator and fire chief of an industrial complex in Belpre OH.
Why are you an NVFC member?
I want to stay informed of upcoming legislation and to keep up to date on industry news. By being a member, I have availability to contact many resources to assist me as a fire administrator.
Why are you a volunteer firefighter?
I have a feeling of accomplishment by helping others and being a productive member of my community.
How long have you been in the fire service?
What are your memorable moments as a firefighter?
I have many memorable moments of both great sadness and pride. Assisting in bringing a 2 year old near drowning victim back to life and seeing her 10 years later as an active pre-teen is probably the highlight of my career. My family has 3 generations actively participating on the fire dept. My father-in-law is an assistant chief and my son is a fire officer/EMT-I.
What contributions have you (and your department) made in your community?
Fire prevention in the local grade school, junior fire fighter program to get kids involved, fundraisers for local individuals, and most importantly, providing fire and EMS service to an 84 square mile area.
