Volunteer Spotlight: Ellen Yarborough

Ellen Yarborough joined the volunteer fire service, which is made up of more than 677,000 individuals across the U.S., at age 45. Her passion for giving back quickly spilled over into her role as a history teacher, as she pioneered a program in which students serve as fire cadets in exchange for academic credit.
