Volunteer Spotlight: Blake Isbell

Name: Blake Isbell
Title: Assistant Chief
Department Name: Cook Springs Volunteer Fire Department
Location: Pell City, AL

Why are you an NVFC member?
Because the NVFC gives us a voice on the national level and accomplishes many great things for us by providing webinars, great training material, and works with companies to get us valuable resources that we could not otherwise obtain due to the typical annual budget of volunteer fire departments.

What is your occupation?

Why are you a fire service volunteer?
To be of service to the citizens (and family) in the area I live because I have a desire to see them have the care and protection they need when the time comes.

What year did you join the fire or emergency services?

What are your memorable moments as a firefighter or EMS provider?
To speak face to face and assure a patient that we are glad we were there to help when we had extricated them from a vehicle years prior, or to receive a phone call of thanks from a woman who survived a heart attack because of the quick medical care she received.

What contributions have you (and your department) made in your community?
We always make it a point to assist anyone that needs help with any large tasks or assist the elderly when needed.
