Volunteer First Responder Housing Act Introduced in Congress

The Volunteer First Responder Housing Act (H.R. 4377/S. 2316) was introduced recently by U.S. Representatives Cindy Axne (D-IA) and Mike Bost (R-IL) and U.S. Senators Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Kevin Cramer (R-ND), and Jon Tester (D-MT). The bill would expand eligibility for volunteer fire and EMS personnel to receive a loan through the Single Family Housing Guaranteed Loan Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. It would also make volunteers eligible to participate in the Good Neighbor Next Door Sales Program, through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
