Provide Input: Draft NEMSAC Letters Regarding DOT Efforts in Post-Crash Care

The National EMS Advisory Council (NEMSAC) has drafted responses to questions posed to the EMS and 911 community by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The drafts are currently open for public comment and input prior to formal submission to NHTSA. EMS and 911 professionals are invited to review the draft letters and provide feedback on the proposed suggestions or offer additional recommendations.

  • Read letter providing advice regarding the major actions the Department of Transportation can take to significantly reduce fatalities and serious injuries on our roadways through support of the post-crash care elements of the National Roadway Safety Strategy (NRSS).
  • Read letter addressing the adoption and implementation of the National Model EMS Clinical Guidelines (3rd Edition) and the 2021 National Field Trauma Triage Guidelines and their role in achieving the goals set out in the NRSS.

Feedback, comments, and questions regarding the letters must be submitted to NHTSA.NEMSAC@dot.gov by October 21, 2022, at 5 pm ET.
