Post Your Department’s Volunteer Opportunities for Chance to Win a $100 Gift Card

The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) is here to help you get new recruits for your fire department, and now we are offering the chance to win a $100 gift card just for posting your volunteer opportunities.

The NVFC’s Make Me A Firefighter™ campaign provides all of the tools and resources needed to help volunteer and combination departments find new members. The campaign features a free department portal at http://portal.nvfc.org that includes an easy-to-use generator for customizing recruitment materials, outreach tools and tips for connecting with community members, a tracking tool to manage new volunteers through the recruitment process, resources for reaching diverse audiences, an event planning tool, online training, and more.

Login or register for free at http://portal.nvfc.org and create a new volunteer opportunity listing by March 31 and you will be entered to win a $100 VISA® gift card to use for your department’s recruitment efforts. By publishing an opportunity listing, potential volunteers will be able to find you using the searchable database on MakeMeAFirefighter.org. Your listing will also feature an embedded form so potential recruits can connect directly with your department.

NVFC research shows that a majority of Americans are unaware if their local fire department needs volunteers. Make sure your community knows you need them, and have the added bonus of being entered to win the $100 gift card.

Make sure to post your volunteer opportunities by March 31 to be eligible for the drawing. A winner will be randomly selected and notified by April 3. Post your opportunity now.

About the Make Me A Firefighter Campaign
Volunteers make up 70 percent of the U.S. fire service and save communities an estimated $140 billion annually. Yet volunteer departments face recruitment and retention challenges, an aging population, and increases in call volume. To help departments meet their recruitment and retention needs, the NVFC launched the Make Me A Firefighter™ campaign in 2015 thanks to support from a federal SAFER grant. Through the campaign, departments can go to http://portal.nvfc.org to sign up, post their volunteer opportunities, and access a materials generator, tools for recruiting diverse audiences, and other free resources to recruit and retain members. Potential volunteers can go to www.MakeMeAFirefighter.org to find volunteer opportunities, connect with their local departments, and learn what it takes to be a volunteer responder.
