NVFC Releases Three New Courses in the Virtual Classroom
December 8, 2020
The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) strives to keep its online courses relevant and up to date for today’s firefighters and EMS providers. The Virtual Classroom features courses on a variety of topics ranging from health and safety to recruitment and retention to leadership, and more. Three new courses are now available. All courses are free to members of the NVFC.
- Emergency Vehicle Safe Operations – Brought to you in partnership with VFIS, this course reviews the 11 best practices for safe emergency vehicle operations in order to reduce the number of emergency vehicle collisions and better protect responders. This course is free to all members of the fire and emergency services for a limited time, regardless of NVFC membership status.
- Fit for Duty, Fit for Life: Firefighter Physicals and the Volunteer Fire Service – Firefighters face many health risks. Occupational health screenings are critical in providing early warnings so that firefighters can take action to protect their health. This course discusses the importance of firefighter physicals, options available to volunteer departments, and how firefighter physicals save lives.
- Incident Safety Officer (ISO) Training Series – This training series contains four modules that provide an overview of the role of an ISO, delve into the areas of communications and safety, and discuss the practical application of this information. Please note, this is not an ISO certification program.
NVFC Virtual Classroom courses are on-demand and self-paced. Courses feature downloadable materials and supplemental resources, quizzes, course evaluations, and certificates of completion. Access the new courses and view the full course catalog at virtualclassroom.nvfc.org.
