NVFC Awarded Grant from General Motors to Make Safer Roadways
December 23, 2025
For the fifth year, General Motors has awarded a grant to the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) to increase the safety of responders and the public on roadways. The $155,000 grant will enable the NVFC to continue initiatives that focus on preparing responders for roadway incidents and educating the public about safe driving practices.
Through this grant, the NVFC will:
- Educate the public on slow down/move over laws and best practices as well as distracted driving messages
- Motivate first responders to take traffic incident management training so they are ready to safely respond to roadway incidents
- Deliver the NVFC’s popular in-person electric vehicle/alternative fuels vehicle training
“The NVFC is dedicated to increasing the safety and effectiveness of responders, and this grant from GM will help us deliver important training to responders and educate the driving public,” said NVFC Chair Steve Hirsch. “We thank GM for their continued support in making the roadways safer for responders and the public.”
