House Bill Introduced to Increase Flexibility for Nonprofit Emergency Services Organizations to Use COVID Relief Funds

On December 10, Representatives Glenn Thompson (R-PA) and Madeleine Dean (D-PA) introduced H.R. 8950, which allows for COVID-19 relief funds (CRF) allocated by a state, tribal, or local unit of government to a nonprofit emergency services organization to be used to “replace lost, delayed, or decreased revenues…stemming from the public health emergency with respect to [COVID-19].”

“I’d like to thank Representatives Thompson and Dean for introducing this important legislation,” said NVFC chair Steve Hirsch. “Fire, EMS, and rescue departments have been hit hard financially by COVID. I urge Congress to act swiftly to pass H.R. 8950 to give nonprofit emergency services organizations greater flexibility in how they use COVID relief funds that they receive from state and local governments.”
