CFSI to Hold Virtual Symposium on April 27-29

The Congressional Fire Services Institute (CFSI) has moved its annual symposium to a virtual format this year. The event will take place on April 27-29 and is free to attend. Sessions cover a broad range of topics important to the volunteer fire and emergency service community.

Representatives from the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) will participate in the following three sessions:

Legislative Update: Fire and Emergency Services Priorities on Capitol Hill and How You Can Participate
April 27, 1-2pm ET
Learn about the policy issues that major national fire and emergency services organizations work on together. The seminar will also discuss how you can develop relationships with your representatives and why your voice matters.

Recruitment and Retention in a Disconnected World
April 28, 11am-12pm ET
COVID-19 has created a more disconnected environment and has left many departments with a greater struggle to recruit and retain. In this seminar, panelists will offer innovative strategies and resources to improve retention and recruitment outcomes.

COVID-19 Update: Assessing the Current Situation and Planning Ahead
April 28, 1-2pm ET
In this seminar, a panel of experts will offer its assessment on the collaborative efforts between local, state, and federal partners in responding to the pandemic and discuss the future needs of fire and EMS personnel to ensure that they are supported in their response efforts.
