Apply for a Safe Streets and Roads for All Grant

The U.S. Department of Transportation has released the FY26 Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant program. Nearly $1 billion is available to support regional, local, and tribal initiatives aimed at preventing roadway deaths and serious injuries. Applications are due May 26.

Examples of eligible activities include:

  • Prehospital blood programs
  • Telemedicine capabilities
  • Extrication resources
  • Vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology
  • Traffic signal preemption
  • Traffic incident management (TIM) training
  • CAD and CAD-to-CAD interoperability
  • 911 call-taking protocols
  • Drones as First Responders
  • GIS improvements

The NOFO specifically prioritizes emergency response coordination and public safety dispatch. Applications will be more competitive if they modernize public safety infrastructure, including prehospital blood transfusion capabilities, and improve post-crash care. Additionally, public safety infrastructure activities – such as field blood delivery, dispatch improvements, digital alert systems, and education campaigns – are eligible under Implementation Grants and may also qualify as Demonstration Activities if applicable.
