As wildfires continue to strengthen in severity and number, volunteer fire departments can help their communities be better prepared before the next wildfire strikes. The Wildland Fire Assessment Program from the NVFC and U.S. Forest Service provides training and tools to help fire service volunteers conduct safety assessments for homes in the wildland-urban interface and make recommendations to residents on how to make their homes more fire adapted.
