The National Emergency Numbers Association (NENA) and the Association of Public Safety Communications (APCO) are receiving more information on the Telephony Denial of Service (TDoS) attacks first reported in 9-1-1 centers and PSAPs in January. Based on recent reports, medical facilities, EMS departments, hospitals, and air ambulances are also being targeted.

NENA and APCO have jointly issued a best practices document to inform offices and departments of how to prepare and plan before an event, what information to save and record during the attack, and who needs to be informed.

The organizations stress sharing the information with other emergency services departments within the jurisdictions as well as communications service providers.
