Having the knowledge and experience of many years in the industry, Airgas, the largest supplier of specialty gases and related equipment in the United States, offers free resources and training for first responders on identification and proper handling of gases in a hazmat setting.

Access to the Airgas Containers Emergency (ACE) program’s extensive training, resources, and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) library is available through a free registration. ACE offers online training on the physical properties and hazards of various gases; fire service-specific training scenarios; information on transportation and storage needs of gases; and a variety of “ACE Cards,” condensed 1- and 2-page sheets that can be printed and placed in apparatus for quick reference.

Airgas also has an on-call emergency response group of 33 teams nationwide with over 300 hazmat technicians. Airgas Emergency Response Organization (AERO) has existed for more than 15 years. Teams perform drills monthly, recertify yearly, and are trained to identify unknown gases and properly handle and dispose of them.
