Eliminating LODDs in Fire Service Training
Monday, June 16 at 2:00 PM ET
Presenters: Allan Rice, Executive Director, Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards Commission and President, North American Fire Training Directors; Jeffery Segal, Assistant Chief, Safety and Member Services, Baltimore City (MD) Fire Department
This webinar takes a close look at how to keep firefighters safe during training drills – specifically, eliminating line-of-duty deaths altogether. Specific case studies will be examined, including a recent incident with the Baltimore City Fire Department. The goal is to focus on lessons learned from the incidents to prevent them from happening in the future. The North American Fire Training Directors’ new Rules of Engagement for Safe Fire Service Training will also be introduced.

Implementing a Successful Training Program for Today’s Fire Service
Wednesday, June 18 at 2:00 PM ET
Presenters: Chief Jeff Cash, Cherryville (NC) Fire Department; Chief Jake Rhoades, Edmond (OK) Fire Department
This webinar will discuss two important aspects of training – establishing successful Junior Firefighter Programs to help instill strong safety attitudes early, and the importance of using programs like Near Miss within curriculum for more realistic and comprehensive training that focuses on the department’s mission. Every department, especially rural and smaller ones, can benefit from a reexamination of their training ground programs to improve the knowledge and skills of current and future firefighters.
