Submit Your Nomination for the 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award

Nominations due by February 11, 2016

Hundreds of thousands of firefighters protect American communities as a volunteer, most never asking for any reward other than knowing they’ve helped those in need. Some of these individuals serve for decades, benefiting generations of citizens and helping shape the future of the fire service through their leadership and example. To recognize the outstanding contributions of these deserving men and women, the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) annually honors an individual with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Do you know someone who has dedicated decades to keeping their community safer as a volunteer firefighter? Nominate them today

The NVFC’s Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by Rosenbauer, recognizes a volunteer firefighter who has served at least 20 years and has made a major contribution or achieved significant accomplishments in the volunteer fire service at the local, state, and/or national level. Applications for this prestigious award are due by 5pm EST on February 11, 2016. The recipient will receive a trip for themselves and a guest to the NVFC Spring Meeting Awards Banquet on May 6, 2016, in Alexandria, VA, just outside of Washington, DC. In addition, the honoree will receive a personalized award and national recognition.

The nominee must have demonstrated superior dedication to the volunteer fire service, been active in their state firefighters’ association, and have positively impacted the community through the fire service or other volunteer activities. Former award recipients are not eligible until 10 years after their previous award. Nominee must have gotten the majority of their fire service experience in the United States and must be a U.S. citizen. Current and past NVFC board members are not eligible for this award until three years after their service on the board ends.
