Stay in Charge of Your Heart-Health with the Fired Up For Fitness Challenge
February 25, 2013
As a firefighter, it's important that you can meet the physical demands of being on duty. By being heart-healthy and physically fit, you're better equipped to help those who depend on you. That's why the NVFC Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program developed the Fired Up For Fitness Challenge, a free interactive fitness program that allows firefighters and EMS personnel to track their hours of activity and receive incentive rewards. Just in time for American Heart Month, the NVFC has re-launched the Fired Up For Fitness Challenge web site and developed a free app to help you track your hours on the go.
The web site tool still allows you to track your hours and reach benchmarks over the course of a year and rewards you with prizes along the way. In addition, you can now track your hours from your smart phone with the Fired Up For Fitness Challenge app. Register for the Challenge first at http://healthy-firefighter.org/firefighters/fuff, then find the app in your phone’s store or marketplace by searching for “NVFC Fired Up For Fitness Challenge.” Never forget to log a workout again with this easy-to-use app!
Encourage your whole department to take the Fired Up For Fitness Challenge. This is a great way to work as a team to achieve higher fitness levels and improved health for the entire department. Organize activities such as sports games or group runs to help all members of your department meet the challenge goals. Or make it a challenge within your department and recognize those who achieve the goals.
