Resources for First Responders at Mass Casualty Incidents
April 22, 2013
The NVFC mourns with the rest of the nation in the wake of the deadly explosions in Boston and West, TX. Although the circumstances of these events were different, in both cases first responders heroically did what they could to protect and help others at the risk of their own safety. In West we tragically lost some of these heroes, and the NVFC grieves for our fallen brothers.
Mass casualty incidents can happen anywhere, and the NVFC offers a compilation of resources available to help departments be prepared. The NVFC has also partnered with American Addiction Centers to offer the National Fire Services Member Assistance Program, a toll-free hotline that NVFC members and their families can call for immediate assistance with issues such as depression, stress, PTSD, and other emotional concerns. Call 1-888-731-FIRE (3473) for help any time day or night.
