FC-303: Fire Corps in Public Education

The course provides information and activities to teach participants how Fire Corps members can assist fire departments with fire safety education programs and activities. The workshop highlights best practices and provides information and tips on training, screening, and monitoring volunteers specifically for fire safety initiatives. NVFC Training Day: Wildland Fire Assessment Program and Recruitment & Retention for the Volunteer Emergency Services
September 21 from 8-4pm at Stillwater Community Center, Stillwater, OK
The NVFC Training Day consists of two courses. The day begins with the Wildland Fire Assessment Program workshop from 8am-noon and is followed by the Recruitment and Retention for the Volunteer Emergency Services workshop in the afternoon from 1-4pm. Wildland Fire Assessment Program
This is a four-hour train-the-trainer course that covers the following topics: understanding the wildland-urban interface (WUI) problem, identifying the zones, evaluating the home, and available resources. Students will be able to take the classroom information, along with a toolkit and supplemental resources, back to their respective departments and teach personnel how to properly conduct a home assessment for residents living in the WUI. The course is being offered across the country in 2013. View schedule and registration information.

Health & Wellness Advocate Train-the-Trainer Workshop
October 10 from 8am-5pm at Fire Service Training Bureau, Ames, IA
The NVFC’s Health & Wellness Advocate course teaches first responders the importance of health and wellness and motivates them to start a department-wide health and wellness program. Participants in this Train-the-Trainer workshop will be given the tools and resources they need to teach this valuable information to others. Click here to register.
