Register Now for the National Junior Firefighter Academy at Scott Safety

Event includes facility tour, product demos, and hands-on training

Following a successful event in 2011, the NVFC’s National Junior Firefighter Program, Tyco International, and Scott Safety have teamed up again to bring the National Junior Firefighter Academy back to North Carolina. The Academy will take place on Saturday, September 29, at the Scott Safety Headquarters in Monroe, NC.

A morning classroom session will provide two separate courses, one for junior firefighters and one for program advisors. Junior firefighters will learn about paths in the fire service and then have the opportunity to ask questions of a leadership panel, featuring current and former junior firefighters and other fire service leaders. Junior firefighter program advisors will learn about serving as a youth mentor and funding a youth program, among other subjects.

Attendees will then have the opportunity to tour the Scott Safety facility and view hands-on product demonstrations. The remainder of the day will be spent with junior firefighters and program advisors cycling through an evolution of hands-on training activities to hone their skills in search and rescue, using a thermal imaging camera, basic EMS, and more.

This event is free, but registration is required. Space is limited – register today at  https://nvfc.wufoo.com/forms/2012-national-junior-firefighter-academy-at-scott/. For more information on the National Junior Firefighter Program, visit www.nvfc.org/juniors.
