Taught by an ACE-certified instructor from L&T Health and Fitness, Human Function and the Exercise Response covers the basic anatomy and physiology of the body as it is applicable to movement. Firefighters will learn how the body is supposed to move and how exercise can help, or a lack of physical activity can impair, the body’s ability to perform under pressure, during stress, and environmental constraints such extreme temperatures.
This course will educate first responders on why fitness is of such critical importance in the fire and emergency services and how to stay at their best so they can be ready when the call comes in. Participants are eligible to receive continuing education credit.
The webinar series is part of the NVFC’s Health and Wellness Advocate training initiative and is sponsored by Scott Safety. Each course focuses on a different aspect of health and wellness and the real-life implications for firefighters and emergency personnel. First responders are encouraged to take all five courses so they learn how to be an advocate for wellness in their department and equip themselves with the tools they need to implement a healthy lifestyle.
