Register for Health and Fitness Training May 9
May 2, 2012
The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) and Scott Safety have teamed up to provide five free health and wellness webinars to firefighters and emergency services personnel. The third course – DIRECT ATTACK: Putting out the Health Risks and Increasing the Exercise Pump – will be held Wednesday, May 9, at 2:00 pm Eastern. Register now!
Taught by an ACE-certified instructor from L&T Health and Fitness, this course covers the major risk factors for heart disease and teaches firefighters how to identify those risks and modify physical activity appropriately in order to help extinguish the occurrences of heart attacks and line-of-duty injuries. This course also helps first responders learn how to design safe exercise programs that can be implemented for the “probie” exerciser all the way up to the “chief” exerciser to increase their physical abilities in cardiovascular endurance, strength, and flexibility.
The webinar series, sponsored by Scott Safety, is part of the NVFC’s Health and Wellness Advocate training initiative. Each course focuses on a different aspect of health and wellness and the real-life implications for firefighters and emergency personnel. Participants are eligible to receive continuing education credit.
First responders are encouraged to take all five courses so they learn how to be an advocate for wellness in their department and equip themselves with the tools they need to implement a healthy lifestyle. Click here to learn more and view the full course schedule.
