Pro-Tech 8 NVFC Relay to Launch at FDIC
March 26, 2012
NVFC teams can register now to participate in Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge
The Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge (SFCC), National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC), and Pro-Tech 8 have teamed up to launch the Pro-Tech 8 NVFC Relay Challenge. Through this partnership, Pro-Tech 8 will sponsor up to six NVFC teams at all Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge events in 2012 starting with the FDIC event April 19-21.
“The SFCC and the NVFC want to help train firefighters in fitness skills needed to perform their jobs and motivate these responders to develop a life-long commitment to fitness, health, and wellness,” said NVFC Chairman Philip C. Stittleburg. “We are pleased to partner with the SFCC to provide the Pro-Tech 8 NVFC Relay Challenge, and grateful to Pro-Tech 8 for sponsoring NVFC teams so that these volunteer firefighters are able to participate.”
“As a long-time supporter of the SFCC, Pro-Tech 8 is excited to be teaming up with the NVFC to offer this Relay for the volunteer firefighters throughout the U.S.,” said Allan Bart, Vice President of TechTrade LLC.
To compete in the Pro-Tech 8 NVFC Relay Challenge, at least three members of the five-person relay team must be members of the NVFC as of December 31, 2011. Pro-Tech 8 will pay for the registration fees of the first six NVFC teams to register for each Challenge event. Additional NVFC teams can compete in the Relay but will need to pay their own registration fees.
Pro-Tech 8 NVFC Relay teams will compete against each other in the Pro-Tech 8 NVFC Relay sub-category. Awards for this category will be given to the first and second place team winners. Winning teams that achieve a qualifying race time will also advance into the final rounds of the general Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge categories and be eligible to win awards in these categories as well.

About the Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge
The mission of the Firefighter Combat Challenge is to promote and showcase the talents, skills, and athleticism of America’s firefighter heroes in an exciting and entertaining sports competition that travels to over twenty locations throughout the country every year. Simulating the essential skills of firefighting – e.g., climbing a five-story tower in full-bunker gear, dragging and hoisting fire hose, simulating forcible entry, and racing around obstacles – the Firefighter Combat Challenge motivates, identifies, and celebrates America’s “best of the best” firefighters.
