Participate in the Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge for FREE!
June 18, 2012
Looking for a chance to improve your fitness, test your stamina, and show off your firefighting skills? The Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge® is taking place in cities all across the country this summer, and National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) members have the chance to participate for free.
Pro-Tech 8 has partnered with the NVFC and the Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge to offer the Pro-Tech 8 NVFC Relay at all Challenge events this year. Pro-Tech 8 will sponsor the registration fees for the first six NVFC teams to register for each event. Three members of your team must be NVFC members as of December 31, 2011 to be eligible. Teams consist of three to five members.
The Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge seeks to encourage firefighter fitness and demonstrate the profession’s rigors to the public. Wearing “full bunker gear” and the Scott Air-Pak breathing apparatus, pairs of competitors race head-to-head as they simulate the physical demands of real-life firefighting by performing a linked series of five tasks including climbing the five-story tower, hoisting, chopping, dragging hoses, and rescuing a life-sized, 175 lb. “victim” as they race against themselves, their opponent, and the clock.
This is a great way to motivate yourself and fellow department members to focus on fitness while training for this rigorous event.
