NVFC to Host Instagram Live Chat on Behavioral Health in the Fire Service

This event will take place on December 10 at 2:00pm EST

Firefighters and EMS providers often put themselves at risk to protect and serve residents in their communities. However, not all risks are physical. These brave individuals also face behavioral health concerns, including anxiety, depression, burnout, post-traumatic stress, and addiction. Join the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) on December 10 at 2pm ET for an Instagram live chat on behavioral health in the fire service.

NVFC CEO Heather Schafer and special guests Ali Rothrock and Hersch Wilson will be looking at common behavioral health issues impacting emergency responders, why this time of year can be especially difficult, and positive coping skills and stress-reducing practices to help responders and their families. Rothrock is the CEO of On the Job and Off and Wilson is the assistant chief with the Hondo Volunteer Fire and Rescue in Santa Fe County, NM.

In order to participate in this free event, download Instagram and follow the NVFC (@mynvfc). Then join us at 2pm ET on December 10 for the live chat. Participants will be able to engage in the conversation and ask questions throughout the discussion.
