Contact your U.S. Senators and ask them to co-sponsor S. 2218
The United States Fire Administration Reauthorization Act (S. 2218) would extend the congressional authorization for the United States Fire Administration (USFA) through Fiscal Year 2017. USFA provides training and education to emergency services personnel and the public. It also performs research and collects fire service-specific data. The long-term health of USFA and the National Fire Academy are vital to our nation’s fire and emergency services.
S. 2218, which the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) supports, was introduced earlier this year by Senator Joe Lieberman (I-CT) along with original co-sponsors Susan Collins (R-ME), Scott Brown (R-MA), Thomas Carper (D-DE), and John McCain (R-AZ). The bill was reported favorably out of the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs in May and awaits action by the full U.S. Senate.
