NVFC Participates in Campus Fire Safety Capitol Hill Day to Promote Fire Prevention

On March 26, close to 40 advocates, students, parents, fire officials, and campus officials went into the halls of Congress to ask members of the U.S. House and Senate to support various pieces of legislation enhancing fire prevention and safety efforts on our nation’s campuses and across the country. In total, 12 teams met with more than 80 offices of members of Congress on key committees with oversight over the Campus Fire Safety Education Act, the Fire Sprinkler Incentive Act, the Honorable Stephanie Tubbs Jones College Fire Prevention Act, and the Campus Fire Safety Month Resolution.

NVFC Director of Government Relations, Dave Finger, led a team of college students from the University of Mount Union (OH) and the University of North Carolina that met with staff from six different congressional offices. This is the sixth annual Campus Fire Safety Capitol Hill Day, which is organized by Campus Firewatch.
