NVFC Not Soliciting Funds by Phone
October 11, 2018
The NVFC does NOT solicit donations from anyone via phone.
The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC), a national, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a voice for volunteer firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and rescue workers, has received information from several members who have been contacted by solicitors asking for donations in support of the “National Volunteer Firefighters Association” and similarly named organizations.
The NVFC does NOT solicit donations from anyone via phone and is not involved in these solicitations. If you have been contacted via telephone and asked to make donations to the NVFC, this is not authorized by the NVFC. Please note that legitimate local (and unaffiliated) fire service foundations and organizations do solicit donations from local communities and may do so via telephone. If you receive such a call, we encourage you to take note of who is calling (by name and number), the date, and time. We also encourage you to require donation information to be sent to you via U.S. Mail before considering any donation.
