NVFC Debuts New Volunteer Recruitment PSA
December 18, 2015
As part of the new Make Me A Firefighter recruitment campaign, the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) is creating a series of outreach videos and public service announcements (PSAs) to raise public awareness of the volunteer fire service and encourage community members to volunteer. A new PSA featuring volunteer firefighter and EMT Meghan Quinn is now available.
In the 30-second PSA, Quinn, a volunteer firefighter/EMT for the Glen Echo Fire Department in Bethesda, MD, shares her reasons for volunteering and why she continues to serve her community. The message lets people know they can make a true difference by volunteering in the fire service and directs people to MakeMeAFirefighter.org to learn more.
The PSA is available on the NVFC’s YouTube channel, and departments can utilize the PSA in their local volunteer recruitment initiatives. Share the video on your web site, social media, and other outreach efforts to motivate your community to consider volunteer opportunities with your fire department.
Make sure your department’s volunteer opportunities are posted through the department portal at portal.nvfc.org so that prospective volunteers can find you when they visit MakeMeAFirefighter.org. The portal also contains other tools and resources to help your department implement a recruitment campaign.
Another PSA promoting the recruitment campaign and featuring NASCAR driver Joey Logano is also available here. Stay tuned for additional PSAs and videos coming soon.
