NVFC Chairman Part of OBA Delegation to Meet Pope Francis

On November 20, 2013, a delegation from the Organization de Bomberos Americanos (OBA) traveled to the Vatican to meet with Pope Francis. The delegation was comprised of National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) Chairman Philip C. Stittleburg, OBA President Carlos Ferlise of Argentina, and representatives from Paraguay and Ecuador.
The OBA is a group of firefighting organizations from across North, Central, and South America. The NVFC represents the United States in the OBA.
During the visit to the Vatican, the OBA delegation presented Pope Francis with a personalized fire helmet. In addition to meeting with the Pope, who hails from Argentina, the delegation also met with members of the Argentine government at Argentina’s embassy in Rome.
