NVFC Chairman Attends International Meeting
July 22, 2013
The Organizacion de Bomberos Americanos (Organization of American Firefighters) met in Panama City from July 3-5, 2013. The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) represents the U.S. in this organization of firefighting groups from North and South America.
Philip C. Stittleburg, Chairman of both the NVFC and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), gave a presentation to the group regarding the new guide the NVFC released on implementing NFPA Standards 1500, 1720, and 1851. Developed in conjunction with the NFPA, the guide examines these three safety and health standards and offers clarification, identifies management steps, and highlights available resources to assist departments in reaching their safety goals. The guide will be translated into Spanish later this year.
In addition to NVFC representation, representatives from the following countries attended: Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, and Uruguay.
