NVFC Board Creates NVFC Volunteer EMS/Rescue Pioneer Award

On September 19, the NVFC Board of Directors voted to create a new EMS achievement award. The NVFC Volunteer EMS/Rescue Pioneer Award will recognize a volunteer EMS and/or Rescue provider who has made a major contribution to the development of a volunteer EMS and/or Rescue delivery system or a program or resource benefitting one or more volunteer EMS and/or Rescue systems on a local, state, and/or national level.

The criteria and selection details for the award were developed by a workgroup made up of members of the NVFC’s EMS/Rescue Section, including several members of the Section’s Executive Committee. The Section reviewed the award details at the Section meeting on September 17 before authorizing the NVFC board vote, which voted unanimously in favor of the award.

Details about the award criteria will be available soon. The award workgroup is still in the process of identifying a sponsor for the award, establishing a timeline for accepting award nominations, and determining when and where the award will be given out. Any member of the Section who would like to serve on the award workgroup is encouraged to contact Dave Finger (dfinger@nvfc.org), NVFC staff liaison to the EMS/Rescue Section.
