NVFC and PHMSA Release Pipeline Incident Toolkit

Millions of miles of pipelines stretch across the United States, transporting hazardous materials through thousands of communities. The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) and the Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) want to help fire departments prepare for pipeline incidents. The Fire Department Pipeline Response Emergency Planning & Preparedness (FD PREPP) Toolkit is a FREE resource designed to help departments conduct pre-incident planning, increase preparedness, and improve response to pipeline incidents.

Developed with assistance from industry stakeholders and responders, the FD PREPP Toolkit assists with preplanning, training, and response activities with the goal of increasing readiness and improving outcomes. Pipeline incidents are low frequency but high impact events. Preparation is important due to the potential hazards that pipeline incidents can pose to the public and to the first responders called to an emergency.

Make pipeline incident readiness a priority. Download the FD PREPP Toolkit today at www.nvfc.org/pipelines.
