NFPA Firefighter Fatality Report Shows 64 On-Duty Firefighter Deaths in 2014

The NFPA reports that there were 64 on-duty firefighter deaths in the U.S. in 2014, the third year in the past four years that the total has been below 65 deaths. Of the firefighters who died, 34 were volunteers. Heart attack continues to be the leading cause of on-duty deaths, accounting for 36 of the deaths, or 56 percent.
