The National Fire Academy (NFA) recently announced its new multi-year program focused on professional development. The Managing Officer Program is targeted to emerging leaders in the emergency services to strengthen leadership, technology, safety, change management, training, and risk reduction.

The program combines four resident courses at the NFA in Emmitsburg, MD, and five online and regionally-delivered prerequisite courses, thus combining self-study and standard classroom work. Students finish off the program with a community-based capstone project. Those interested in the program must meet the service and academic requirements, and must have experience as a supervising officer.

Prospective students can find the detailed course list, service and academic requirements, capstone ideas, and information on the application process on the NFA Managing Officer Program web site.
