Cost-effective healthcare and improved patient outcomes are driving changes in our nation’s healthcare system. The role of EMS is also changing to meet new demands, which predominantly includes mobile integrated healthcare and community paramedicine (MIH-CP).

Mobile Integrated Healthcare: Approach to Implementation is a new book that describes how to successfully implement MIH-CP programs. Authored by Matt Zavadsky, MS-HSA, EMT, and Doug Hooten, MBA, from MedStar Mobile Healthcare, the book serves as a reference to the EMS community, as well as other medical professionals working toward implementation of a successful MIH program. Zavadsky, a member of the NAEMT Board and chair of its MIH-CP Committee, said, “Communities that are able to successfully integrate EMS services into the larger healthcare system in a way that is patient-centered and collaborative will discover the true benefit that EMS can bring to the local healthcare system.”
