NASEMSO Releases Rural Highway Mass Casualty Guidelines

The National Association of State EMS Officials (NASEMSO) has released “Rural Highway Mass Casualty Guidelines: Resources for State and Local Officials,” which is designed to improve response in rural areas of state EMS systems and to further collaboration with state offices of highway safety and state traffic safety engineering staff. The project was funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Office of Emergency Medical Services and based on a recommendation from the National Transportation Safety Board related to rural highway mass casualty readiness. The guidelines have been presented to and accepted by the Federal Interagency Committee on Emergency Medical Services. Download the document.
