Improved EMS impacts traffic safety and public health in rural communities. The Mountain-Plain Consortium, with support from the U.S. Department of Transportation, conducted a study to identify issues with respect to the delivery of quality EMS to rural residents in South Dakota and perform a needs assessment from the rural transportation system perspective.
