Free Course: Preventing and Coping with Suicide in the Fire and Emergency Services
July 31, 2018
More firefighters die from suicide each year than in the line of duty. The NVFC has updated its online course Preventing and Coping with Suicide in the Fire and Emergency Services to help fire and emergency service departments address suicide. Presented by Jeff Dill, founder of the Firefighter Behavioral Health Alliance and certified counselor, the course examines the signs and symptoms preceding suicide, highlights available resources for departments and individuals, and discusses the healing process when coping with a firefighter suicide.
The NVFC is offering the course free-of-charge for a limited time to all members of the fire and emergency services, thanks to the generosity of the Motorola Solutions Foundation. Take this training through the Virtual Classroom. If you don’t have a Virtual Classroom account, create one for free to access this course.
