FP&S Grant Applications Due This Friday: Apply Now!
January 14, 2013
The application period for the FY 2012 Fire Prevention and Safety (FP&S) grants closes this Friday, January 18. There is still time to apply for a grant to help fund your department’s fire prevention efforts, firefighter health and safety program, and more.
The FP&S grants are part of FEMA’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program. FP&S funding supports projects that enhance the safety of the public and firefighters from fire and related hazards. The goal of the grants is to reduce injury and prevent death among high-risk populations.
Your department can apply for a grant to fund a variety of projects in two activity areas: fire prevention and safety, and research and development. Eligible activities for fire prevention and safety may include general education and awareness programs; fire and arson investigation; code enforcement and awareness; national, state, or regional programs and studies; smoke alarm or sprinkler awareness project; wildland fire prevention; juvenile firesetter projects; and others. The research and development category includes projects designed to reduce firefighter fatalities and injuries and improve firefighter safety, health, and wellness.
