FirstNet Publishes Third Notice of Public Comment

On May 5, the First Responder Network Authority (“FirstNet”) published in the Federal Register a Third Notice to request public comment on certain proposed interpretations of its enabling legislation that will inform, among other things, consultation, forthcoming requests for proposals, interpretive rules, and network policies. FirstNet’s mission is to build, operate, and maintain the first high-speed, nationwide wireless broadband network dedicated to public safety. FirstNet was created by passage of the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act in February 2012. The current public comment opportunity seeks clarification on proposed interpretations related to the definition and scope of the term “public safety entity” as used in the law.
