SUMMARY:Webinar: Staying Strong and Aging Well in the Fire Service
DESCRIPTION:Instructor: Roy Smalley \nIs firefighting a job for the young? The average age of firefighters is steadily climbing as men and women who love the fire service stay in and stay active longer. While aging up doesn’t have to mean aging out\, it does require adjusting our maintenance schedule. You can’t run an old truck the same as a new one! The strength and wellness routines we followed as a rookie don’t work the same when we’re more seasoned. In this webinar\, we’ll look at what happens to our musculo-skeletal\, endocrine\, and cardiovascular systems as our bodies age\, and talk strategies for keeping yourself fireground-ready long into your career. Register.

SUMMARY:Webinar: Distracted Driving -- Personal and Professional Considerations
DESCRIPTION:Distracted driving persists at epidemic levels despite the efforts of many national campaigns. Why haven’t we been able to significantly change driving behaviors? Perhaps it’s because we haven’t given drivers the right reasons to change. Responders are in peril every time they go to a crash scene because of distracted drivers. It is incumbent on responders to not wait for others to reduce distracted driving\, but to take action now to reduce distracted driving crashes. Fire departments across the country have made distracted driving education for K-12 part of their community risk reduction plans. This webinar\, presented by Joel Feldman\, will walk through new research-based approaches that have been proven effective in changing attitudes and driving behaviors\, and how you can do the same with tested materials. Register.
